Watch Women Win 2023

The 5th edition of Watch Women Win (WWW) was held on March 8, 2023, at Government Science School Abuja, Nigeria. The event was organised in collaboration with Paged initiative and Give Girls a Chance.

To mark the theme of the year, “Innovation and Digital Technology for Gender Equality”, we showcased how digital technology is propelling women’s careers in various industries.  Five amazing women who work in these fields were present at the event to share stories and insights from their career journeys.

These women include:

  1. Fatima Alfa Abu –  Software Accounts Manager in the Healthcare industry
  2. Linda Ekweogu – Entrepreneur in the Agriculture Sector
  3. Nancy Benjamin – UI/UX Designer in the Information Technology sector.
  4. Uchenna Chidi –  Entrepreneur in the Media industry
  5. Vanessa Ejikeme –  A Software Engineer in Education sector
  6. Frances Tersong – A practitioner in the legal industry.

About 100 young girls, between the ages of 10-18 years from Government Secondary School, Garki, attended the event. They were engaged and demonstrated eagerness to learn as they actively participated in the Q&A session.

Digital technology is a powerful tool that is shaping the future of work in many ways, including advancing gender equality. By telling the stories of these women who are already leveraging technology for their growth, we can inspire the younger generation to embrace technology to achieve their own goals.

We look forward to continuing to work with our partners to explore different ways to shape narratives through storytelling.
